LOWNDES CO., Ga. — Empty crates at the Lowndes County Animal Shelter is a sight pet owners love to see.
The County says for the first time the Animal Shelter is empty.
Over the weekend, every animal was adopted or rescued.
“I’m sure that before the week’s out, we’ll have more dogs that come in. People will give their dogs up. We’ll find strays. They’ll move into the adoption rooms”, says Paige Dukes Lowndes County PIO. “However, we hope that continuing through education, through the hard work of our citizens, through good spay and neuter practices, and with the continued efforts of our shelter staff, today becomes more the norm.”
She says the staff can now deep clean the pins to prevent any illness from spreading in the future.
In addition to their rescue efforts, the shelter will soon offer free training programs to new pet owners.
