MOULTRIE, Ga. — A south Georgia man is charged with murder following a fight that authorities say led to another man’s death.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation 37-year-old Miguel Angel Mares Medina is charged with felony murder in the death of 31-year-old Ramiro “Oscar” Hernandez.
Authorities say that autopsy results concluded that Hernadez died from blunt force trauma to the head.
The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fight between Medina and Hernandez at 699 Sardis Church Road on May 7.
Medina was arrested at the time and charged with battery, according to GBI. Hernandez refused medical treatment for the injuries he sustained in the fight, but was found dead by neighbors on May 9.
Neighbors say that witnesses reported seeing Hernandez alive as late as Sunday afternoon.
Medina is being held in the Colquitt County Jail.
