VALDOSTA, Ga. – Two people were arrested after speeding on I-75 in Valdosta.
The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office says it happened on May 4th around 8:30 in the morning. Deputies clocked a vehicle traveling around 89 miles per hour. The deputy stopped the vehicle and spoke with both the passenger and driver.
The deputy became suspicious when the two occupants appeared to be nervous. The two told the deputy that they were on the way to see relatives in Georgia but he noticed that they didn’t have any luggage.
A Sheriff’s Office canine unit was called to the scene and performed a sniff of the vehicle exterior. After a positive alert from the canine, deputies searched the vehicle and found 150 gift card hidden in the interior of the car and a small quantity of cocaine.
Pedro Garcia-Feyt and Yordanis Ramos-Luenca were both placed under arrest.
The gift cards were examined and the majority of them had been re-encoded with credit card data. Detectives are continuing to work with the United States Secret Service and the various banks to identify and notify the victims,
