TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-It wasn’t your average walk in the park outside the Southwood Town Centre in Tallahassee on Saturday.
People hit the pavement for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation- One Walk.
The walk, supports local families dealing with type one diabetes and raises money to help fund research.
The event chairman and his daughter who’s an advocate for type one, says everyone should educate themselves about Type 1.
Living with Type 1 diabetes, Adison Hunter said, “Usually some people mistake it for Type 2 and so basically I explain that it’s an auto-immune disease and it isn’t caused by anything I did..”
Scott Hunter said, “My dad, he’s a Type One. What he grew up dealing with and what she does is completely different all because of people like everyone in the community supporting JDRF and raising funds and raising awareness.”
More than 400 people walked with the Hunter family, in hopes of helping those living with the disease.
